Twitter has attracted quite a bit of attention, as people share what they are doing right now.
As with so many Web 2.0 ideas, it new and untested. But Amy Gahran from Poynter has come up with an interesting use for it.
Like myself, she is a speaker at the Knight New Media Election ’08 seminar. Instead of live blogging the event, she is ‘twittering’ the discussions.
It reads a little like a stream of consciousness, but as Amy herself says, this is an experiment. As we were discussing in the break, is this a tool that news organisations could use for breaking news? I suspect there is something in this.
UPDATE: The Unofficial Apple Weblog used Twitter to cover the Macworld Expo.
Alfred — well, we’ll see if this ends up offering value. i figure, experimentation says a lot. Do you think my twtitters offer any value?

I think there is potential in using Twitter to report on events. The word limit can be frustrating but this is a minor issue. As with all new technology, these are all growing pains. Interestingly, the BBC technology editor is using Twitter to ‘announce’ new stories published on BBCNews.com.
