Making sense of the intersection between media, society and technology
Georgia Logothetis is better known as Georgia10, contributing editor at liberal blog the Daily Kos. During a panel discussion at the AEJMC annual conference, she described blogs as an example of people empowerment. I caught up with her after the session.

Update: Bryan Murley has posted a write-up of the panel Georgia was on. It is well worth reading.

Blogs certainly do help a larger audience get involved, but they also help a larger audience spew lies. This election cycle should be an example of that threat with blogs like Larry Sinclair and No Quarter USA saying Obama isn’t a US citizen, didn’t register for selective service, that his wife was recorded cursing “whitey.” These things have all been proven as lies, repeated only because of partisan interests, and the writers have no accountability.
