A panel at the 2010 AEJMC annual conference in Denver took on the practical end of journalism education: how to plan, launch and run a converged student news website. It ran on Wednesday 4 August from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in room Plaza Court 4, and Alfred Hermida’s contribution, AEJMC: Planning a student website, dealt with the planning stage.
The problem the panel addressed was a practical one. A student newsroom that publishes on the open web has to settle editorial responsibility, workflow and technology before the first story goes up, and none of those decisions belong to the classroom alone.
